MDS Coating Technologies Announces New Trade Name for Coating Family
PEI, January 18, 2012 ‐‐ MDS Coating Technologies Corporation (MCT) announces a new trade
name for the nanostructured coating family previously referred to as NextGen Coating or NGC:

BlackGoldTM is OEM certified, including recent certification on the CFM56‐7B, and sets a new
standard in erosion and corrosion protection for gas turbine compressor parts. This technology
builds on the success of the award winning ER-7TM coating which has operated successfully for
20 years and saved our customers over $100 million per year in maintenance, repair, part
replacement and fuel costs.

The coating has successfully passed the most severe engine tests and has proven its outstanding erosion protection against sand, fluids and volcanic ash while protecting the airfoils against corrosion.
